Fire Day

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

This past Sunday was Pentecost. The Sunday we remember the birth of the Church, when the Holy Spirit came with the sound of a loud rushing wind and what looked like tongues of fire. We, as a church, had not celebrated Pentecost before, but we thought it worth celebrating so we threw an all-church BBQ.

Before the service people came early and we dedicated our building to God’s Kingdom. Gary Burns thought it so appropriate to dedicate our building on the birthday of the church.

Sunday was a real win: fantastic food, great casual time together, and the building didn’t even feel as cold. I am so proud of the team who made Sunday happen, they did a great job.

Lucky for me I had my camera and was able to get this picture of Wade cooking it up right!!!

Sunday was our first week back in our old red church building…… Amazing!!!

You pray, and pray, and pray. You dare to hope for what seems too impossible or way too unlikely and then beyond all ‘reasonable hope’ it happens. It feels like a wonderful dream. It just felt right.

I am sure people remember the cold… no heat yet. But I also hope they remember how much God has done on our behalf to bring us back here. I hope they now see that God still hears our prayers, and that He is still moving.

God has done great things for us and we are filled with joy” (ps 126:3)

Bible Week

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

After all this time God has allowed us to move back into the red church building this week as of Monday. In celebration of our first week in the building we are reading through the bible, outloud, cover to cover. We are reading it 8am-midnight Monday through Friday until we are done. At this rate I anticipate being done late afternoon Friday. People are taking turns reading sections in 1-hour blocks, or teaming up with a few people and changing every chapter.

One girl, new to our church, asked if every church did this… “It just feels right.”

Another said, “It is like we are reminding this place what it is made to be about.”

Along with this reading, we are slaving away getting it ready for Sunday, stuff moved, things cleaned, a baby room prepped, bathrooms ready…….

I have had this silly grin on my face this whole week, because of how incredible it is to be back in this place. God has been so good to us!!!

Feeling Like Helping?

I know God is putting on many people’s hearts to give money toward the purchase of our new church building, so I thought I would give some details here.

If you live in the US and desire a tax break for giving towards the purchase of this building you can give online through CRM by clicking HERE.

If you live in the UK, or do not need a US tax break, you can give to the purchase of our new building through www.charitygiving.co.uk (they take nothing from your gifts) by clicking HERE.

We have from now until Autumn to have all the money needed. This time there is no bid so either we have the money or don’t.

If you know someone who might be willing to loan us the remainder amount at a fantastic interest rate because they believe in what we are doing, have them contact me at brian@rehope.co.uk.

Between everyone who is paying attention to what God is doing with us around the world; I have no doubts that God is preparing many to provide for His church in Scotland. Thank you for believing!!!
